The Teahouse of the August Moon
by John Patrick

March 23 - April 8th, 2007

A Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner, this enchanting play is a celebration of cultural diversity and common humanity. A young Army officer sent to a remote village in Okinawa to teach democracy to the natives is not prepared for the ingenious charm of the people. He soon finds himself selling the village's principal product, potato brandy, to the surrounding military clubs and building the village a teahouse... whose gala opening coincides with the moment chosen by his stern and stuffy colonel to make an inspection tour.
