Auditions October 28th and 29th
Auditions take place Monday October 28th and Tuesday October 29th beginning at 7:00 PM. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script. Auditioners are welcome to attend both evenings of auditions, but it is not required. Headshot and resume are recommended but not required.
Due to daytime performances February 26th, 27th, and 28th, a stipend will be available for performers.
Rehearsals will generally be Monday through Thursday 7-9:30 pm. A more detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided at auditions.

Character Descriptions
7 Men, 3 Women
The King: (Male, 35-45) As ruler of the land, the king’s expectations are high, and he is very demanding. He is very boisterous and does not take no for an answer.
Scheherazade: (Female, 35-45) Scheherazade is a great storyteller. Her mastery of the craft is very impressive. She is a gentle, caring and extremely intelligent person. There is a magic to the stories that she crafts.
Musician / Aladdin: (Male, 18-25) Aladdin is young and impulsive. He has grown up in an impoverished home, his father has passed away and he is being raised by his mother. He does not have confidence at the beginning of the show, but it grows. Experience with saber is an advantage.
Cook/Aladdin’s Mother: (Female, 50-65) A “Poor, old” Mother. Quiet and caring, afraid of Genii
Jester / Magician: (Male, 30 ++) The Magician is a conniving, evil character. His desire is to get the lamp and use the Genie for his benefit and evil endeavors. The magician is a very sly guy. Experience with a saber is a plus.
Porter / Genie: (Male, 45++) The Genie is sweet, wise and charming. “The most wonderful character that ever lived.” He must be able to move quickly and agilely around the stage as he moves in and out of the lamp.
Chancellor / Grand Vizier : (Male, 50++) The Chancellor is pompous which fits perfectly into the character of the Grand Vizier who is a rude and obnoxious man with a nefarious plan to take over the Sultan’s throne.
Accountant / Vizier’s Son: (Male, 18-25) The accountant and the Vizier’s Son are sniveling wimps. They don’t do anything other than complain and don’t have any confidence. He is a mean, weaseling version of his father.
Dancer / Princess: (Female, 18-25) She is a princess, what can we say? She is beautiful and caring, her beauty does not outshine her intelligence though. She knows what she wants.
General / Sultan: (Male, 50++) The happy-go-lucky character who trusts everyone, even though he shouldn’t. Loves his daughter above all else.
First and Second Merchants: (Any Age) These characters are supporting roles with a few lines. The supporting roles in this show will be asked to help with scene and costume changes throughout the show.
Townspeople: (Any Age) These characters are supporting roles only, no lines. These actors will be asked to help with scene and costume changes throughout the show. There will be 3 townspeople.
