Fire Update:

On the night of February 22, 2023, Riverside Community Players suffered significant damage at the hands of an arsonist. The fire was started at around 11:00 pm on our loading dock between the scene shop and the storage container used to store props and furniture. The container and its contents are likely a total loss. The fire spread to the roof and siding of the Lewis Room shop.

Luckily the damage to our historic mid-century theater building could have been much worse had it not been to the swift and heroic actions of the Riverside Fire Department. Their quick response and decisive actions are THE ONLY reason the theater is still standing today. RFD, Riverside Community Players is forever in your debt and thank you doesn’t seem to be enough for saving a cultural icon as it nears its 100th Season.

Many of our patrons, actors, backstage workers, board members, season ticket holders and community members recognize the importance of our theatre to the Riverside community. Now, we need your help. We have set up a Go Fund Me to help defer the cost of the repair to our building, replacing destroyed prop items and furniture, replacing our storage container and enhancing our security to prevent this from happening again. We are likely looking at a price tag of upwards of $10,000. No amount is too small or too large for your tax-deductible donation! THANK YOU for anything you can do!

Theatre Restoration Fundraiser

Picture
Riverside Community Players , one of the oldest continuing performing community theatres in the United States, needs your help!  We've about to start our 99th season, and we are in the midst of a fundraising campaign to give our theatre building a facelift with a new 1950's look.

The Theater Restoration Project will include restoration and upgrades to the existing building and courtyard. Beautiful mural graphics, decorative fencing, a new marquee, and courtyard enhancements for seating and surrounding landscape are among the targeted improvements. Our goal is to create a newly vibrant space for our patrons, members  and community organizations to enjoy. We are proud to announce that we will be working with Ruhnau and Clarke, the original architect firm from back in 1953.

We've already repaired and professionally painted our beautiful facade and theatre.  Future donations will go towards landscaping, a brand new patio, artwork, and a polished finished look.

In order to meet our fundraising goal of $300,000, it will truly take a village. Any amount you are able to contribute will make a difference – all donations are tax-deductible.

Won't you join us in helping to restore this important Riverside landmark? Thank you in advance for your contribution to this kickoff campaign!

Please be reminded that we are sincerely grateful to our ticket-holders and sponsors who support our local actors, directors, technical directors, stage managers and costumers in giving them the opportunity to perfect their craft throughout the season. Bravo!
