Feb 2nd and 3rd, 7 PM

Auditions will consist of readings from the provided sides.  If you have a prepared monologue ready, I will be happy to see that as well.

Rehearsals will take place weeknights from 7-10 PM, 3-4 days a week and the occasional Saturday rehearsal from 10-2 PM as needed. Performances run April 18th-May 4th, 2025.

Director Michael Shane Eastman shares his advice for the upcoming auditions:

"Welcome to a world of magic, mischief, and music!   If you love Shakespeare, we would love to see you at auditions! If you 'don't get' Shakespeare, we would love to see you as well.  In my 20-some years of directing Shakespeare, I find that if you can perform Musical Theatre, you can perform Shakespeare.  I'm looking for performers who can express emotions and ideas through music, dance, and rhyme.  No stiff accents, no lofty speeches with skulls in hand, just folks who can bring these classic characters to life in a fresh and modern way.  Please dress in clothing that allows for movement.  The roles of Oberon, Titania, Robin (Puck), and Bottom may be asked to sing at callbacks."

FAIRY FOLK
OBERON: Male (30-60’s) The powerful King of the Fairies, yet turned bitter and hurtful. He’s lost his luster for life after existing for thousands of years which gives him the cynicism of a brooding alcoholic dad on a family vacation.  Hades from Hadestown.
TITANIA: Female (30-60’s) Queen of the Fairies; gentle and kind to a cartoonish degree.  Think Miss Yvonne from Pee-Wee’s Playhouse (available on Max) or Giselle from Enchanted.
ROBIN GOODFELLOW (Puck): Any Gender (18-45) A mischievous hobgoblin and trickster, impish and naughty. The MC from Cabaret.
ATHENIANS
HERMIA: Female (20’s-30’s) A sweet, albeit naïve, daughter of Egeus.  Despite her small stature, she feels emotions on a grand scale.  Think Mary Lane from Reefer Madness or Galinda from Wicked.
LYSANDER: Male (20’s-30’s) Hermia’s match in every way, he is sweet, a romantic, but a little more grounded than his love. A Seymour or Boq-type.
HELENA: Any Gender (20’s-30’s) The tall and awkward best friend of Hermia who is jealous of Demetrius’ affection towards her.  She is comedically uncouth, much like a young Carol Burnett-type.
DEMETRIUS Male (20’s-30’s) The cocky and brutish, yet still charming, man who pursues Hermia against her will.  A Gaston-type.
THESEUS Male (40-60’s) Duke of Athens, counting down the hours until he can consummate his marriage to Hippolyta.
HIPPOLYTA: Female (30-60's) An Amazonian Queen who holds the intellectual power between her and her fiancé.
EGEUS: Any Gender (35+) Father to Hermia, comedically old and stubborn.  Will double as other roles.
THE MECHANICALS
PETER QUINCE: Any Gender (30-60) A Carpenter who is directing the play within the play.  Anxious and flabbergast, they must manage the troupe of amateurs.
NICK BOTTOM: Male (20-50’s) A weaver turned actor.  Thinks he is God’s gift to acting despite his simple nature and skills.
FRANCIS FLUTE: Male (18-30’s) A sweet-faced man who is cast to play Thisbe, the female love interest.  Simple-minded, but the strongest actor in the bunch.
TOM SNOUT: Any Gender (18-88) A Mechanical who plays the Wall.
SNUG: Any Gender (18-88) The gentle giant of the mechanicals.  They are imposing, but sweet and the dullest of their group.
ROBIN STARVELING Any Gender (18-88) A Mechanical who plays Moonshine.
Linked below are the sides we will be utilizing at the auditions.  These are here to familiarize yourselves with the material rather than trying to be completely memorized.  These printed sides will be available at the auditions.  If you have a prepared monologue that would like to present, please let the director know and he will give you the opportunity to perform your prepared piece.
